You’ve got a friend

You’ve got a friend; Message of Love from Jess. When I was young, we lived in a small apartment in a huge and very old house that was broken up into many apartments. My room was originally a ‘parlor’ and had 3 sets of French doors as my walls with a buzzer that rang for service in our kitchen. I grew up in an unstable home. We moved frequently and had very little money after my mother divorced her alcoholic and drug-addicted husband. I was an only child and felt very alone and outcast, embarrassed of my circumstances despite being very smart and somewhat popular. A couple times we moved in with friends or family. I slept on the couch or recliner living out of my suitcase. I was basically on my own. I worked to buy clothing or anything else that I needed.

My one comfort was music. I always had music nearby in some form. In this house, I had an old radio that would only play certain radio stations. It never retained a signal for very long. I never knew how long the music would last when I turned it on to go to sleep at night, as was my usual habit. One night I fell asleep with the radio on and it faded away to silence as usual. Hours later, I woke to the sound of James Taylor’s rendition of “You’ve Got A Friend”.  The words touched me in a most loving and magical way. I immediately felt comforted and peaceful. I truly felt there was more than a coincidence that the song, and its lyrics, came to me randomly in the middle of the night. Years later, at the age of 47, I still remember that night clearly with love in my heart.

A few weeks ago, I participated in my first tele-seminar reading with Laura Lee to connect with my spirit guide. I was in utter awe when Laura told me that Jesus Christ came to her as my guide. Laura stated that Christ told her he has been there for me ever since my youth and that I’ve only needed to reach out to him and ask. I instantly thought of the night with the radio with James Taylor. I knew Christ was trying to comfort me during a very rough time when I felt hopeless and alone. I truly think the lyrics say it all….

When you’re down and troubled

And you need some love and care

And nothing, nothing is going right

Close your eyes and think of me

And soon I will be there

To brighten up even your darkest night
