Message of Love Story by Frank: My father battled brain cancer for over 2 years. He was in a hospice program at home during the last 2 months of his life with us. On Friday morning, his caretaker told mother that my father only had a couple of days to a week to live. He was showing signs of going through the stages of death. My mother called me that morning and told me what the caretaker had told her. Living 2 hours away, I rushed to my parent’s house to be with my father. He was in a state in which he couldn’t respond but I was sure he could hear us and understand what we were saying. My mother, brother and I stayed up pretty late that night and eventually headed to bed around 2 am. I laid in bed thinking about my father and then saw that 30 minutes had passed. I’m not very religious (although I believe there is a God) but my parents believe in Buddhism so I considered myself a Buddhist. For some reason, I closed my eyes and said a prayer, “God, please don’t let my dad suffer anymore.” As soon as I finished my prayer, with my eyes still close, I saw a bright white light flash. I quickly opened my eyes and looked around to see if someone had taken a picture because it looked like a ‘flash’ from a camera. Realizing no one was there, I jumped from bed to check on my father. He was still breathing and okay. So I went back to bed and fell asleep. 20 minutes later, my mom came running into my room and asked me to check on my father because she didn’t think he was breathing. Sure enough, he’d stopped. I’m not exactly sure what the white light was that night. Some say it was an angel sent by God. Some say it was my father’s spirit saying his last goodbye. Either way, I believe that God answered my prayer that night. Now every morning and night, I say a prayer to thank God for answering my prayer that night. It has made me a firm believer that nothing happens by coincidence and that things happen for a reason. Also, thank God, and guardian angels too, to help guide us through life. Frank
